The Island Keyer II board has been extended to add an optional low power 5 Volt regulator and a Solid State Relay (SSR). See the IK2ext manual and IK2ext schematic for more information (in acrobat (.pdf) format). See pricing on the order form.

[Island Keyer II circuit board picture - click for larger version] The Island Keyer II descended from the original Island Keyer first sold in 1996. Although NOT pin compatible with the original, the Island Keyer II has a similar concept - a non-volatile memory keyer with smooth pot speed control. However, the Island Keyer II has a large number of new additional features. Here are a few highlights:

  • 5 to 70 WPM speed range
  • 56 non-volatile memories
  • Straight key recording / command
  • Ultimatic mode as well as iambic a or b modes
  • board size (2.3 by 1.5 inches)
  • kit is available in three option levels:
    • $21: Board, keyer chip, EEPROM chip and ceramic resonator (picture), the builder will need to add the rest of the components
    $33: Board plus all on-board components including the regulator (picture) but excluding the SSR (Solid State Relay)
    $41: previous item plus the SSR (picture)
  • Note that the builder will need to add an enclosure, switches, jacks, battery holder (or connector) to complete the kit
  • machine pin sockets included with $33 or $41 options

    Note that the board plating appears corroded, however it should not affect soldering.
    Suggestion from a customer: use a brass brush to shine up the bottom traces before soldering.
